Top 5 Favorite Couples

Greetings My Lovelies!

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I decided to do something a little different this Monday.  Instead of reviewing a book, I’m going to talk about my favorite couples in books and other media.  Let’s get going.

5. Percy and Annabeth (Olympians and Heroes of Olympus)

I love these two because they don’t start off liking each other.  They’re barely even friends.  But as the series progress we see them start to recognize each other’s strengths and support each other when lacking.  Their romantic feelings evolve slowly over the years until they finally admit their love for each other and fight tooth and nail to stay together.  They are a good, healthy relationship that I can stand behind 100%

4. Daine and Numiar (The Immortals)

I loved this couple when I was younger, but now….the age difference is a little cringy.  But if you put that all aside, they start off respecting each other.  Numair is Daine’s teacher but he never makes her feel inferior.  He pushes her to be more and truly seems to care for her.  Now at some point, their relationship shifted from mutual respect to attraction.  Even they don’t know when it happens.  When they realize that they have romantic feelings for each other, they don’t know how to handle it.  They don’t want to trap the other in a relationship that they might regret later.  Well, that proves to not be true and they have a wonderful marriage built on trust and respect.

3. Feyre and Rhysand (Court Series)

If you haven’t heard by now, I’m a huge fan of Sara J Maas.  Of the multitude of couples in her books, Feyre and Rhysand and my hands down favorite.  Rhysand is willing to give up his mate and let her marry another man if that is what it takes for her to be happy.  Feyre takes in Rhysand’s past abuse (to him) and doesn’t try and make him take part in something that he may not have any desire to do.  Both put the other’s emotions above their own.  And we all can learn from that.

2. The 11th Doctor and River Song

I’m a third gen Whovian and I love it.  The 11th Doctor will always be my favorite because he’s the real reason why I love Doctor Who.  And when he and River get together it is nothing but pure gold.  I can’t get enough of their sass and love for each other.  They play so well off each other that I can’t take my eyes off them.

1. Harlow and Augustine (House of the Rising Sun)

What do you get when a computer hacker who can’t touch people because she gets overloaded with their emotions and an ex-criminal and playboy turn Guardian?  A fucking epic story.  I love these two.  Augustine falls for Harlow the moment he meets her but doesn’t try to push too far.  He respects her boundaries.  Harlow is a whole heap of issues but eventually she comes to terms with her baggage and realizes that he’s not as bad as she feared (and she hates it).  Augustine is not ashamed of his Fae heritage, but Harlow is.  Through him, she learns to accept a part of her that she’s tried to ignore.  They are so different but come together to create this wonderful duo that is unstoppable.  They are their own people, but they are definitely stronger together.

Well. that’s all I got today.  Do you have any other favorite couples?  Let me know by commenting below.

General Overview:

Again, SPOILERS AHEAD!  This book follows Feyre struggles to adjust to her life as a freshly minted High Fae.  Things aren’t going quiet so well as she and Tamlin struggle to move on with their lives.  Slowly, Feyre falls deeper and deeper into a depressive spiral that only one person can save her from.  In comes Rhysand, the deadly High Lord of the Night Court.  Rhys calls in on her bargain and tries to bring her back from the brink.  It takes Tamlin locking her inside his house for Feyre to finally see that she needs to leave.  Rhys and his inner court slowly bring her back while preparing for the upcoming war with Hybern.   While training Feyre discovers her new abilities and her mate.  God I don’t want to say any more.

My Thoughts:

As someone who is a long time depression sufferer, this is a pretty accurate portrayal.  And honestly, I wish I had a Rhys back then.  We’re introduced to some new characters. Mor, Armen, Cassian and my new book boyfriend Azriel.  All of these characters have rich back stories and gigantic personalities.  I can’t even begin to express how much this book speaks to me.

Reread factor:

I read this book a lot.  It’s one of my all time favs and whenever I’m trying to choose a new book, it whispers to me.  I have to fight the temptation to keep reading it over and over again.

Question Time:

Have you read this book?

Did you like it?  Hate it?

What’s your favorite in the Court of Thorn and Roses series?

See ya next time!

Book Review: Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

Greetings My Lovelies!

It’s Monday so that’s means that it’s time once again for me to do a book review.  Yea! So here’s how this works. I rate books on a scale of coffee cups….because I love coffee.  Also there will be no spoilers in these reviews.

General Overview:

The final book in the Throne of Glass series.  All hell has broken loose and way looms on the horizon.  A terrible sacrifice must be made.  A scattered army fighting against a horde from another world.  Honestly, I can’t say anymore than that or I will spoil it for people who haven’t read this book or the series.

My Thoughts:

Never in my life have I been happier for libraries.  I stumbled across the first book and fell in love.  I read the whole series (at that time) at the library and then bought them for my person shelves.  If you like smart, sassy heroines then this book and series is for you.  If you love rich complex characters and men that are so perfect that it’s not fair that they only exist on the page.  Seriously, go out and get this series!  The only gripe I have is that some of the battle scenes dragged out a bit but they can’t all be nail bitters.  Small but hey, nothing is 100% perfect.

Reread factor:

I don’t reread this series as much as the other one the author has but I still enjoy rereading it from time to time.  It’s a marvel to see where the characters start as to where they are by the end of the most current book.  I can’t express how much I loved this book and this series as a whole.

Book Review: Catwoman Soulstealer by Sarah J. Maas

Greetings My Lovelies!

General Overview:

This is the third installment of the DC Icon series.  It follows Selina Kyle as she returns to Gotham City and sets herself up as the Queen of the Underworld.  Instead of Batman, they pair her up with Luke Fox, the son of Lucius Fox, with the call sign of Batwing.  We see some old favorites like Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and the Joker.  This story has an ending that I never saw coming.

My Thoughts:

As a kid I loved Catwoman.  I still do today (minus that Halley Berry film).  Catwoman lives her life by her own rules and no one else.  I also love Sarah J Maas.  I stumbled across her Throne of Glass series and instantly fell in love then I read A Court of Thorn and Roses and sold my soul to her.  So this mash up of my two favorite women was a match made in heaven.  I had no idea where the book was heading but that’s the way I like it.  I never got the impression that Selina was whole good or bad, which is true to her character.  I loved the cat and mouse between Catwoman and Batwing.  It never bothered me once that she wasn’t with Batman.  The ages wouldn’t work so hey…I also loved the Harley and Ivy dynamic.  All in all, another good read from my queen.

Reread factor:

This was an entertaining read.  I’ll definitely read it again at some point, but probably when I stumble across it on my shelves.
