A few weeks ago (I’ve been terrible about posting regularly) I received a book in the mail that I didn’t order. At first I was confused and a little worried. Had someone ordered something using my card and forgot to change the mailing address? Was this a gift from one of my relatives who are notorious for randomly sending me things? Was I buying books in my sleep? Of course my husband, who called to tell me about the book, was no help at all.
Well as it turned out it was none of the above. Every now and again I sign up for a Goodreads give away. This book was one such book. The give away hadn’t ended and I didn’t receive an email notifying me that I won.
It’s an uncorrected proof and it’s free. Plus I will never turn down a book.
Three cheers for surprise books!
Hello, my name is Kristen and I am addicted to free books for the Kindle….
Every day, I get an email for this site called bookbub. It’s awesome! Not only do they suggest some books that you may like, they also include free books too. Nearly everyday, I download a free book or two. But here’s the kicker….I rarely read them. I have some books that have been on my kindle for years and I’ve never read them. Well, I’m trying to change that. I’ve made myself promise that I will not buy anymore new books until I read at least ten books on my kindle.
Maybe I’m just addicted to reading and books….nah.
Do any of you also have this problem? Please don’t let me be the only one. Until next time folks!
A while back I was approached by Webucator and asked if I could do a post about the importance of getting a solid education. They also wanted me to provide information for veterans to use should they decide to enroll in their programs. Now I feel like I must say that they are not paying me to say anything and I am doing this of my own free will. When I got out I tried to find a job and it didn’t work. Luckily I had the GI bill, which offered some money, and my husband was still in. I took advantage of that and went to school. I earned my degree and with that degree I was able to get a job. The school that I went to had online degrees which worked out well for me because I didn’t have to transfer schools every time my husband got a new duty station. This is similar to what Webucator offers. They have programs that you can do online as a class or on your own. They offer training courses on web design and security as well as management. It’s at least worth a look if you’re struggling to find your place in the civilian world. The person who contacted me also informed me that they also will help you create your resume which we all know is crucial for getting an interview. I applied for jobs for two years with no success while I was in school. Then I tweaked my resume to fit my new skills and to make it stand out. Three months later I had two interviews which turned into a position. If you are not a vet, I would still recommend checking these people out, sometimes we all have to go off into a new direction to make our lives better. For my fellow vets and their families, if you decided that Webucator is something for you then sign up for the self paced courses and enter the promo code VETERAN. This will allow you to take the courses for FREE!
Times are tough and any little bit that you can do to put yourself ahead of the game is at least worth a going over. And to the rest of you who are not veterans, should you come across one who is struggling to find a job could you let them know. I would appreciate it and I know that they would as well. Take care everybody.
I almost forgot that it’s the start of a new month and that means new free books for the kindle. Silly me. Now some months are better than others and this month was awesome!
I got a lot of interesting looking books and even managed to find a whole series. (That’s rare) I love free books whether I borrow them from the library or get them from Amazon. There’s no real risk if the book turns out to be crappy but I’ve also come across some really good ones too. Like right now I’ reading a free book I got a while back called The Last Goddess. Oh my goodness…I’m loving it! And speaking of what I’m reading, I’ve finally gotten my Goodreads page to sync with this blog so I got rid of the What I’m reading page. If you’re still curious, or are looking for something new to read just scroll down the page, along the side, and you’ll see it. It actually works out pretty well for me because I was always forgetting to update that page.
Any who, that’s enough for now. Till next time people and happy reading.
I’m always on the lookout for new books. I go to the library, bookstores, and I have a Kindle. Now I know that some people out there despise the Kindle. I used to be one of those people. My husband got me one and I have to admit that I love it. With that being said, I don’t think I will ever buy books for my Kindle ever again. With real books, if I don’t like it or I get tired of it I could always pass it on. I can’t really do that with Kindle books.
Then I discovered something awesome! At the beginning of each month Amazon has new lists that have free books on them. So now at the first of every month I scan through these lists and see if there’s any books that I may like. I have found some good books and some not so good books, but hey that’s the nature of the beast.
So if you own a Kindle, make sure you stop by Amazon today to check out the new free books. FREE BOOKS FOR ALL!!!!
