Greetings My Lovelies!
With November coming to a close, so does NaNoWrimo. I decided to give it a whirl to see what it’s all about and see if it’s even worth it. So here’s what I found….
Hitting the daily word requirements wasn’t as bad as I thought. It usually took my only a couple of hours to hit 1667.
Word sprints are your best friend and I will keep using them FOREVER! Set a timer and pound out as many words as you possible can. No time to over think, just get it out.
The people doing NaNoWrimo with you are supper supportive!
The write in events are a great way to meet your fellow writers. Gotta have friends!
So I have to be honest…I didn’t actually hit the 50k goal. I got the stomach flu and was out for three days and then I lost a friend suddenly and unexpectedly, there went another couple of days. But I did better than I thought I was going to do. I might do it again next year, but I am for sure going to take the practices I used during NaNo and apply them to my normal writing habits.
Final verdict? Give it a go and see if it’s for you. Gotta a half baked idea and what to see if you can turn it into a story? Go for it! I recommend planning a bit in October to prep, but how you handle NaNo is all up to you.
So did any of you do NaNoWrimo? How’d it go for you? Let’s see those comments below!
