Liebster Award

I was nominated Grady P. Brown by for a Liebster Award.  This award means that I have to answer eleven questions, tag eleven of my fellow bloggers and ask them eleven questions.  Here are my answers to his.

1.) Do you enjoy anime and manga?

Oh god yes! Sometimes I can’t find one when I want to.

2.) What is your favorite pet?

I guess I should say my two dogs. I have pugs. Their personalities are much bigger than their little bodies.

3.) What country would you want to visit the most?

Hmmm…that’s a toughie. I have a list of places that I want to go. But if I had to choose I would have to say Russia. My husband is from there so I would love to meet the rest of his family, but not in the winter. No thank you.

4.) What would you describe as your favorite vacation experience?

It would be a mix of fun things to do and down time.

5.) If you enjoy superheroes, who is your favorite one?

Who doesn’t like superheroes? My favorite has always been Rogue from X-Men. People don’t realize just how powerful she actually is. Plus every now and again she has to deal with having too many voices in her head which is something that I can relate to because I have depression and completely understand how that feels.

6.) What is your opinion of pit bulls?

I don’t think they are as bad as people think they are. A dog is only as good as its owner.

7.) What kind of music do you enjoy?

All kinds really, although, I don’t like most of the music they put out these days.

8.) What makes you laugh the most?

My dogs. They are funny.

9.) What is your favorite season of the year?

Fall. I just love the colors, the cool weather, and Halloween is my favorite holiday.

10.) How would you describe as the perfect villain?

I think the villains who are trying to do something good but go about it the wrong way are much more compelling than those who are just evil for evil’s sake.

11.) What is your favorite dessert?

Anything with chocolate in it but my grandmother’s chocolate covered cookie balls are my all time favorites.

Here are my questions

  1. What is it about what you do that makes you passionate about it?
  2. Is there anything about your life that you would change?
  3. What makes you the happiest?
  4. What is your favorite book and/or movie genre?
  5. Is there any genre that you don’t like?
  6. Are you where you thought you be at this stage in your life?
  7. Is there a particular time period that you find interesting?
  8. What do you wish they had more of on TV?
  9. Do you even watch a lot of TV?
  10. What is your guilty pleasure (no judgment. I like Disney movies)
  11. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

I nominate

Why I need an Editor….

I know that many self published authors forgo using an editor.  Most likely because of the cost of hiring one.  But after getting my novel back I realize that it’s money well spent.  You see, for years I have been putting the comma after someone speaks in the wrong spot.  Don’t ask my why I just have.  When I saw the corrections in my manuscript I was confused.  But after flipping through the books on my shelf, I realized that I did make a mistake.  See people!  It pays to use an editor.  Plus, if you’re confused about why they did something you can ask them.  At least mine has no problem with it.  An editor is more than just someone you pay to correct your work.  They are someone who knows about writing, and can help you to improve your writing.  So thank you Christie!

What a Dreary Day!

I don’t know about you guys, but I am more than ready for it to be fall.  I’m tired of this bouncing back and forth with the weather.  I wish it would just hurry up and cool down so I can break out my jeans.  I have cuter close for the colder months than I do for the warmer ones.  Don’t ask me why.

Today is cloudy here.  It’s a good day to curl up with a cup of tea or coffee and a book, but I have work to do.  So here I am, sitting in the living room, working on my edits.  I almost forgot that I promised to post something this weekend.  But I remembered so yeah me!

Oh…apparently I’m doing really well in job.  Well that’s what everyone keeps telling me.  I’m glad that someone thinks so because I don’t.  I’m on my own a lot because the teacher that I work under is barely in one place long enough for us to talk.  I told her that from now on I will stay behind after I clock out if I need to talk to her.  She told me I didn’t have to but honestly, when else are we supposed to touch base.  Getting up early is also becoming easier, though the drive will always be killer.

I’ve also started working on the story outline for my next book but I’ve had to put it on hold till I get done making the corrections for TLG.  I did make it up to chapter 6 though.  I think that my next book may be longer than my first.  That’s fine with me but we’ll just have to see what happens when I start writing it.

Anyways, I hope you guys are having a lovely weekend and take care!

Old Shows and New

Wow I am on a roll today!  Three posts in one day.  Well I guess I had to make up for my two week absence.  So anyways….DOCTOR WHO IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tumblr_miu47ppMi41qg2jf6o1_250I was starting to get antsy.  I like the new Doctor.  I think he’s doing a wonderful job.  He’s a bit more grumpy than 11 (my doctor) but there’s still enough humor and mystery to keep me entertained.  I am excited to see where this season go especially when it’s just a set up for the shows new direction.  Yeah!

Fall is just around the corner and you know what that means?  All the good shows are back.  I can’t wait for Arrow and I’m even excited for the Flash.  Supernatural is coming back too and I think for it’s final season.  I know I may get a lot of flack for this but about time.  Honestly, I started to fall out of love with the show after season five.  They could have ended it there and I would have been completely happy.  I never expected a show like that to have a concrete ending so it would have worked.  Please don’t hate me but it’s just my opinion.  I may have to go back and watch the seasons that I didn’t just so I’m all caught up.  I still haven’t decided whether or not I will watch the final season.

Outlander has turned out to be a pleasant surprise!  The only thing that’s getting me is that I’m impatient to see certain things.  The show is based off of a book series in case you didn’t know.  The funny thing is that I don’t have this problem with Game of Thrones.  I guess it’s because they are starting to deviate from the books a bit.  Which honestly, they probably don’t have to do but that’s television for you.

Well I guess I should get off now.  I feel like I have sufficiently made up for my absence.  Plus I have to start cooking dinner.  Take care everybody!

Education Opportunity for Veterans

A while back I was approached by Webucator and asked if I could do a post about the importance of getting a solid education.  They also wanted me to provide information for veterans to use should they decide to enroll in their programs.  Now I feel like I must say that they are not paying me to say anything and I am doing this of my own free will.  When I got out I tried to find a job and it didn’t work.  Luckily I had the GI bill, which offered some money, and my husband was still in.  I took advantage of that and went to school.  I earned my degree and with that degree I was able to get a job.  The school that I went to had online degrees which worked out well for me because I didn’t have to transfer schools every time my husband got a new duty station.  This is similar to what Webucator offers.  They have programs that you can do online as a class or on your own.  They offer training courses on web design and security as well as management.  It’s at least worth a look if you’re struggling to find your place in the civilian world.  The person who contacted me also informed me that they also will help you create your resume which we all know is crucial for getting an interview.  I applied for jobs for two years with no success while I was in school.  Then I tweaked my resume to fit my new skills and to make it stand out.  Three months later I had two interviews which turned into a position.  If you are not a vet, I would still recommend checking these people out, sometimes we all have to go off into a new direction to make our lives better.  For my fellow vets and their families, if you decided that Webucator is something for you then sign up for the self paced courses and enter the promo code VETERAN.  This will allow you to take the courses for FREE!

Times are tough and any little bit that you can do to put yourself ahead of the game is at least worth a going over.  And to the rest of you who are not veterans, should you come across one who is struggling to find a job could you let them know.  I would appreciate it and I know that they would as well.  Take care everybody.

Long Time No See

Greetings internet friends!

I would like to start off by saying sorry for not posting anything in such a long time.  Things have been really crazy around here.  So let’s not waist anymore time and let me fill you in on everything.

As you know, I started a new job working at an Elementary school.  Right now it’s about fifty-fifty.  Since I work with a special needs student some days can be pretty rough and I’m on my own for a lot of it.  But the teachers that I work with are funny, supportive, and are willing to work with me.  And that helps a lot.  The teacher that I work directly for told me last week that she was so glad that I was working out.  To tell you the truth I was surprised to hear her say that.  I since school started I felt like I was stumbling around in the dark.  She told me not to worry because there is a learning curve but I have excellent instincts.  Talk about a moral booster!  I like the student that I’m responsible for, she can be really sweet and funny.  I also love her classmates.  They are understanding of her differences and try to be her friends (which doesn’t work out).  I tell them that it’s nothing personally and that I appreciate the effort.  They also love me!  I love them too.  Sadly, because I’m all over the place I haven’t had any time to make any work friends but what can you do?

I received my book back from my editor and I have started making corrections.  I’m glad I did because there are bits in the book where what was in my head didn’t make it to paper.  I’ve been fighting with that since day one.  This is why you always need someone else to go over your work.  They have no idea what’s in your head, so if you missed something they will let you know.  I wish I had dual monitors though.  It’s a little hard bouncing back and forth on one screen.  But I will try my best.

Lastly, since I’m pretty beat by the time I get home I won’t be posting as often.  I will try to post on the weekends but I won’t make any promises.  My days start at five fifteen and I’m usually in bed pretty early.  Weekends are my time to catch up on some sleep and get some reading or writing done.  I will try to update more, I don’t want you guys to think that I’ve forgotten about you.  So till then, take care!
