Frustrations

I posted a while back that I added my book to the site Goodreads.com.  Again if you haven’t checked it out already get to it.  Anyways, they have the option to become a Goodreads author, and that allows for me to interact with people who have or want to read my book and future books.  Well it’s been a few months now and I can’t seem to get it to work.  In fact, I haven’t heard anything from the Goodreads people since I first asked about it.  I might have to ask a friend of mine, also an author, how long it took for her.

Oh and speaking of here below is the link to her page.  She has answered so many of my questions about self publishing that I feel that it’s only fair that I give her a shout out.  She has a new book coming out  April 2015(I believe) so be sure to check it out.

Another frustration is that I may have to find a new editor.  I’m pretty good about finding mistakes but it always pays to have someone else go over it, especially when they know what they’re doing.  I feel that a lot of self published authors are either ignoring this aspect of writing or they aren’t using the right editor.  Now I’m no English major and most of the time, if the book is good, I don’t notice grammatical errors.  But sometimes…shakes head…I also know that there are some people who get turned off from books because of these errors.  I really want to try and avoid that at all costs.  But the current editor I’m using hasn’t sent me anything back and I’m just about half way through the book.  So for any of my other author friends out there, if you know a good editor let me know.

update on editor:

I feel really bad now because my editor got back to me the other day.  Apparently her husband has been in and out of the hospital for a while.  If I bothered to actually pay any attention to what people post on Facebook (I usually just scroll) then I would have been aware.  I hope he gets better soon.
