Every author has areas that they excel in. Some authors can write great love scenes, some are fantastic with dialog, while others can put action into words. The last category is one that I have a hard time with. I see what I want in my head but when it comes to putting it into words, it always falls flat. I tend to rewrite action sections over and over again but am never fully satisfied with the out come.
I also understand that an author’s worst critic is themselves, or at least it should be. My betas have never had any complaints about my action sequences so I guess they’re not as bad as I think they are. All I can do is keep on writing and maybe one day I will actually be completely happy with something that I’ve written. That might actually be a bad thing…if I’m satisfied then I may not try to push myself to do better, to do more, or to try something new? What’s your thoughts on this?
